HRU UNMIS (United Nations Mission in the Sudan) monitored trials conducted by the Special Criminal Court on the Events in Darfur and reported its concerns about the Court's failure to deal with major violations of human rights and international humanitarian law which were committed during the conflict in Darfur.
20- رصدت وحدة حقوق الإنسان التابعة لبعثة الأمم المتحدة في السودان المحاكمات التي أجرتها المحكمة الجنائية الخاصة بأحداث دارفور وأبلغت عن شواغلها بشأن فشل المحكمة في التعامل مع الانتهاكات الرئيسية لحقوق الإنسان والقانون الإنساني الدولي التي ارتُكبت خلال النزاع في دارفور.

9. In a welcome sign of progress in the area of human rights, the Special Criminal Court on the Events in Darfur (Special Criminal Court), which was established by the Government in June 2005, delivered its first conviction for a serious human rights violation on 15 August.

Another example is Mr. Jan Egeland, former Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, saying ethnic cleansing did not " fit [the legal definition of] Events in Darfur " .
