1. The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Ministerial Committee of Five on Sierra Leone held a meeting at Conakry on 22 and 23 October 1997.
١ - عقدت لجنة الخمسة المعنية بسيراليون والتابعة للجماعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب أفريقيا اجتماعا بكوناكري في ٢٢ و٣٢ تشرين اﻷول/أكتوبر ٧٩٩١.

39. The continuing efforts being made by the ECOWAS Committee of Five on Sierra Leone and its Chairman, Chief Tom Ikimi, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, deserve commendation and support.
٣٩ - أما الجهود المتواصلة التي تبذلها لجنة الخمسة المعنية بسيراليون التابعة للجماعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب أفريقيا ورئيسها، الزعيم توم إيكيمي، وزير خارجية نيجيريا، فتستحق الثناء والدعم.

1. The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Ministerial Committee of Five on Sierra Leone held its eighth meeting in New York on 5 and 6 February 1998.
١ - عقدت لجنة الخمسة المعنية بسيراليون التابعة للجماعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب أفريقيا اجتماعها الثامن في نيويورك يومي ٥ و ٦ شباط/فبراير ١٩٩٨.

1. The Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Committee of Five on Sierra Leone held their seventh meeting at ECOWAS secretariat headquarters at Abuja on 19 December 1997.
١ - عقد وزراء خارجية لجنة الخمسة المعنية بسيراليون والتابعــة للجماعة الاقتصاديــة لـدول غرب أفريقيا اجتماعهم السابع في مقر أمانة الجماعة الاقتصادية في أبوجا يوم ٩١ كانون اﻷول/ ديسمبر ١٩٩٧.

2. On 5 February 1998, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Committee of Five on Sierra Leone came to New York to brief the members of the Security Council and myself on the situation in Sierra Leone.
٢ - في ٥ شباط/فبراير ١٩٩٨، حضرت لجنة الخمسة المعنية بسيراليون والتابعة للجماعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب أفريقيا إلى نيويورك ﻹطلاع أعضاء مجلس اﻷمن وإطلاعي على الحالة في سيراليون.

38. I note that the ECOWAS Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Committee of Five on Sierra Leone on 19 December 1997 called upon all countries and, in particular, on ECOWAS member States to adhere strictly to the sanctions.
٣٨ - وإني أحيط علما بأن وزراء خارجية لجنة الخمسة المعنية بسيراليون التابعة للجماعة الاقتصادية قد طلبت في ١٩ كانون اﻷول/ ديسمبر ١٩٩٧ إلى جميع البلدان وبوجه خاص إلى الدول اﻷعضاء في الجماعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب أفريقيا الامتثال الدقيق بالجزاءات.

38. I commend the consistent diplomacy of ECOWAS and, in particular, its Committee of Five on Sierra Leone, and the contribution made by ECOMOG officers and men to the removal of the military junta.
٣٨ - وأشيد هنا بالدبلوماسية المستمرة التي تتبعها الجماعية الاقتصادية لدول غرب أفريقيا، ولا سيما لجنة الخمسة المعنية بسيراليون والمنبثقة عنها، وبمساهمة ضباط ورجال فريق المراقبين العسكريين في خلع المجلس العسكري الحاكم.

I have the honour to transmit the first report of the Economic Community of West African States Committee of Five on Sierra Leone, covering the period from 8 October to 5 November 1997, as requested by the Security Council in paragraph 9 of resolution 1132 (1997) concerning the situation in Sierra Leone, for onward transmission to the President of the Security Council.
يشرفني أن أحيل التقرير اﻷول للجنة الخمسة المعنية بسيراليون التابعة للجماعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب أفريقيا، وهو يشمل الفترة من ٨ تشرين اﻷول/أكتوبر إلى ٥ تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر ١٩٩٧ كما طلب ذلك مجلس اﻷمن في الفقرة ٩ من القرار ١١٣٢ )١٩٩٧( المتعلق بالحالة في سيراليون وذلك ﻹحالته إلى رئيس مجلس اﻷمن.

19. On 8 January 1998 the Chairman of ECOWAS and Head of State of Nigeria, General Sani Abacha, wrote to inform me of the outcome of the seventh meeting of the ECOWAS Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Committee of Five on Sierra Leone, held in Abuja on 19 December 1997.
١٩ - في ٨ كانون الثاني/يناير ١٩٩٨، بعث رئيس الجماعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب أفريقيا ورئيس دولة نيجيريا، اللواء ساني أباتشا، إلي برسالة يُبلغني فيها بنتائج الاجتماع السابع لوزراء خارجية لجنة الخمسة المعنية بسيراليون التابعة للجماعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب أفريقيا المعقود في أبوجا يوم ١٩ كانون اﻷول/ ديسمبر ١٩٩٧.
