Economic and Social Council resolution 1993/69 requests the Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development to submit to the Commission on Science and Technology for Development at its second session a report on the results obtained from the Work of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Interrelationship between Investment and Technology Transfer.
يطلب قرار المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي ٣٩٩١/٩٦ الى اﻷمين العام لمؤتمر اﻷمم المتحدة للتجارة والتنمية أن يقدم إلى اللجنة المعنية بستخير العلم والتكنولوجيا ﻷغراض التنمية في دورتها الثانية تقريرا عن النتائج التي تحققت من خلال أعمال الفريق العامل المخصص المعني بالترابط بين الاستثمار ونقل التكنولوجيا.

The report of the Secretary-General on energy activities of the United Nations system (E/C.13/1996/7) is to be considered by the Committee on New and Renewable Sources of Energy and on Energy for Development at its second session (New York, 12-23 February 1996).
ومن المقرر أن تنظر اللجنة المعنية بمصادر الطاقة الجديدة والمتجددة وبتسخير الطاقة ﻷغراض التنمية في دورتها الثانية )نيويورك، ١٢-٢٣ شباط/فبراير ١٩٩٦( في تقرير لﻷمين العام عن أنشطة منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة في مجال الطاقة.

1. The present report has been prepared in response to the request of the Committee on New and Renewable Sources of Energy and on Energy for Development at its second session (12-23 February 1996),1 which was approved by the Economic and Social Council in its decision 1996/304.
١ - أعد هذا التقرير استجابة لطلب اللجنة المعنية بمصادر الطاقة الجديدة والمتجددة وبتسخير الطاقة ﻷغراض التنمية في دورتها الثانية )١٢-٢٣ شباط/فبراير ١٩٩٦()١(، الذي وافق عليه المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي في مقرره ١٩٩٦/٣٠٤.

In that regard, they refer to the report considered by the Commission on Science and Technology for Development at its second session in 1995, entitled " Activities of the United Nations system in the field of science and technology for development, including cooperation in technology assessment " (E/CN.16/1995/7), which, together with a number of the above-mentioned projects, has been left outside the scope of the present report.

2. Requests the Secretary-General to submit to the Commission on Science and Technology for Development at its second session a report on scientific and technological aspects of the conversion of military capacity for civilian use and sustainable development, with a focus on technology assessment issues, particularly the economic effects, employment implications and environmental consequences of alternative technological choices;
٢ - يطلب إلى اﻷمين العام أن يقدم إلى اللجنة المعنية بتسخير العلم والتكنولجيا ﻷغراض التنمية في دورتها الثانية تقريرا عن الجوانب العلمية والتكنولوجية لتحويل القدرات العسكرية إلى الاستعمال المدني والتنمية المستدامة مع التركيز على مسائل تقييم التكنولوجيا ولاسيما اﻵثار الاقتصادية واﻵثار الواقعة على العمالة والعواقب البيئية.

63. The Working Group took note of the conclusion of the Committee on New and Renewable Sources of Energy and on Energy for Development at its second session (see E/C.13/1996/8) that, inter alia, a holistic and coordinated approach to energy issues in the United Nations system was not yet in place, and suggested that the Commission recommend such an approach.
٦٣ - وأحاط الفريق العامل بالنتيجة الواردة في تقرير اللجنة المعنية بمصادر الطاقة الجديدة والمتجددة وبتسخير الطاقة ﻷغراض التنمية في دورتها الثانية )انظر E/C.13/1996/8(، ومفادها، في جملة أمور، أنه لم يتم بعد اﻷخذ بنهج شمولي ومتناسق لقضايا الطاقة في منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة واقترح أن توصي اللجنة باﻷخذ بهذا النهج.
