وإذ تأسف لما أبدته اللجنة المؤقتة لمنظمة التجارة الدولية من رغبتها في تقديم طلب ﻹنهاء عضويتها في الصندوق اعتبارا من ٣١ كانون اﻷول/ ديسمبر ١٩٩٨،

By this resolution, the General Assembly, inter alia, approved the withdrawal from membership from the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund of the Interim Commission for the International Trade Organization.

4. Draws the attention of the members of the World Trade Organization that a staff member of the Interim Commission for the International Trade Organization ceasing participation in the Fund will have the possibility of electing to receive a benefit from the Fund and, at the same time, accepting an offer of employment in the secretariat of the World Trade Organization;
٤ - توجه انتباه أعضاء منظمة التجارة العالمية إلى أن موظفي اللجنة المؤقتة لمنظمة التجارة الدولية الذين يتوقفون عن المشاركة في الصندوق سيتمتعون بإمكانية اختيار الجمع بين الحصول على استحقاق من الصندوق وقبول عرض بالعمل، في الوقت ذاته، في أمانة منظمة التجارة العالمية؛

1. On 16 October 1998, the General Council of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Executive Committee of the Interim Commission for the International Trade Organization (ICITO) adopted decision WT/L/282 concerning the conditions of service applicable to the staff of the WTO secretariat.
١ - في ١٦ تشرين اﻷول/أكتوبر ١٩٩٨، اتخذ المجلس العام لمنظمة التجارة العالمية واللجنة التنفيذية التابعة للجنة المؤقتة لمنظمة التجارة الدولية المقرر WT/L/282 المتعلق بشروط الخدمة المطبقة على موظفي أمانة منظمة التجارة العالمية.

206. Following the withdrawal on 31 December 1998 of the Interim Commission for the International Trade Organization/General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade from membership in the Fund, one seat became vacant on the Board, with implications also for the composition of the Standing Committee.
206 - وعقب انسحاب اللجنة المؤقتة لمنظمة التجارة الدولية/مجموعة " غات " من عضوية الصندوق في 31 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 1998، أصبح أحد المقاعد في المجلس شاغرا، مع ما يترتب على ذلك من آثار أيضا على تكويـــن اللجنة الدائمة.

2. Takes note also of the review of the size and composition of the Board and the Standing Committee and, in particular, the provisional allocation of the seat vacated by the former Interim Commission for the International Trade Organization effected upon the termination of its membership in the Fund as at 31 December 1998, as described in paragraphs 241 to 252 of the report of the Board;2
2 - تحيط علما أيضا باستعراض حجم وتكوين المجلس واللجنة الدائمة، ولا سيما التخصيص المؤقت للمقعد الذي أخلته اللجنة المؤقتة السابقة لمنظمة التجارة الدولية عند انتهاء عضويتها في الصندوق في 31 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 1998، على النحو الوارد في الفقرات 241 إلى 252 من تقرير المجلس(2)؛

Regarding the possible withdrawal of the Interim Commission for the International Trade Organization/General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade from membership in the Fund, his delegation wished to state its support for strengthening the common system and endorsing the Advisory Committee's recommendation to the World Trade Organization to take into account the potentially serious implications of its leaving the Fund.
٢٨ - وفيما يتعلق باحتمال انسحاب اللجنة المؤقتة لمنظمة التجارة الدولية/مجموعة الاتفاق العام بشأن التعريفات الجمركية والتجارة من العضوية في الصندوق، قال إن وفده يود أن يعلن دعمه لتعزيز النظام الموحد وتأييده لتوصية اللجنة الاستشارية المقدمة إلى منظمة التجارة الدولية بأن تأخذ في الاعتبار اﻵثار الخطيرة التي قد تترتب على تركها الصندوق.

Mr. Gieri (Secretary of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund) introduced the report of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Board on the application of the Interim Commission for the International Trade Organization/ General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (ICITO) for withdrawal from the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (A/53/9/Add.1).
