8. The ILO Convention (No. 182) on the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour, which prohibits forced or compulsory recruitment of children for use in hostilities, has been rapidly ratified; it entered into force on 19 November 2000 and currently has 173 States parties.

(d) International Labour Organization Convention No. 182 (1999) declares child soldiering to be among the worst forms of child labour and prohibits forced or compulsory recruitment of children under the age of 18 in armed conflict;

The Sudan has also ratified Convention 182 of the International Labour Organization concerning the Prohibition and Immediate Action for the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour, which prohibits the forced or compulsory recruitment of children for use in armed conflict.

24. This includes the " forced or compulsory recruitment of children for use in armed conflict " (pursuant to Convention No. 182 of the International Labour Organization (ILO) on the Prohibition and Immediate Action for the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour).

(a) All forms of slavery or practices similar to slavery, such as the sale and trafficking of children, debt bondage and serfdom and forced or compulsory labour, including forced or compulsory recruitment of children for use in armed conflict;

34. He believes it is important that the SPDC recognize the issue and start working towards addressing it, including through acceding to the relevant Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Worst Forms of Child Labour Convention 1999 of the International Labour Organization, which defines the forced or compulsory recruitment of children as one of these.
