The Fourteenth United Nations Regional Cartographic Conference for Asia and the Pacific was convened in accordance with Economic and Social Council decision 1994/228 of 14 July 1994.

At its 34th plenary meeting, on 18 July 1997, the Economic and Social Council endorsed the following recommendations of the Fourteenth United Nations Regional Cartographic Conference for Asia and the Pacific:

(b) Request the Secretary-General to take measures, where appropriate and within available resources, to implement the other recommendations made by the Fourteenth United Nations Regional Cartographic Conference for Asia and the Pacific.
)ب( أن يطلب الى اﻷمين العام اتخاذ التدابير، حسب الاقتضاء وفي حدود الموارد المتاحة، لتنفيذ سائر توصيات مؤتمر اﻷمم المتحدة اﻹقليمي الرابع عشر لرسم الخرائط ﻵسيا والمحيط الهادئ.

(a) Endorse its recommendation that the Fourteenth United Nations Regional Cartographic Conference for Asia and the Pacific should be convened for five working days in mid-1997, with the primary focus on the contribution of surveying, mapping and charting in support of the implementation of Agenda 21;
)أ( أن يؤيد توصيته بعقد مؤتمر اﻷمم المتحدة اﻹقليمي الرابع عشر لرسم الخرائط ﻵسيا والمحيط الهادئ لمدة خمسة أيام عمل في منتصف عام ١٩٩٧، مع تركيز رئيسي على مساهمة المسح ورسم الخرائط وإعداد الرسوم البيانية في دعم تنفيذ جدول أعمال القرن ٢١؛

59. At the 34th meeting, on 18 July, the Council endorsed the recommendation of the Fourteenth United Nations Regional Cartographic Conference for Asia and the Pacific concerning the convening of the Fifteenth Conference and requested the Secretary-General to take measures to implement the other recommendations of the Fourteenth Conference (E/1997/52, paras. 17 (a) and (b)).

1. The Fourteenth United Nations Regional Cartographic Conference for Asia and the Pacific was held at the headquarters of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), in Bangkok, Thailand, from 3 to 7 February 1997.
١ - عقد مؤتمر اﻷمم المتحدة اﻹقليمي الرابع عشر لرسم الخرائط ﻵسيا والمحيط الهادئ في مقر لجنة اﻷمم المتحدة الاقتصادية والاجتماعية ﻵسيا والمحيط الهادئ )اسكاب(، في بانكوك، تايلند، في الفترة من ٣ الى ٧ شباط/فبراير ١٩٩٧.

The Council will consider the reports of the Secretary-General on the Fourteenth United Nations Regional Cartographic Conference for Asia and the Pacific (Bangkok, 3-7 February 1997) (decision 1994/228) and on the Sixth United Nations Regional Cartographic Conference for the Americas (New York, 2-6 June 1997) (decision 1993/225).
