Thus, the first resolution adopted by the United Nations was one that dealt with atomic energy and called for, among other things, the elimination from national armaments of atomic weapons and of all other major weapons adaptable to mass destruction.

1. Sixty years ago, the United Nations Organization urged: " the elimination from national armaments of atomic weapons and of all other major weapons adaptable to mass destruction " .

The first resolution of the General Assembly, dated 24 January 1946, specifically asked for the establishment of a commission to study the problems raised by the discovery of atomic energy, and in operative paragraph 5, it called for the elimination from national armaments of atomic weapons and of all other major weapons adaptable to mass destruction.
وطلب أول قرار اتخذته الجمعية العامة بتاريخ 24 كانون الثاني/يناير 1946 بالتحديد إنشاء لجنة لدراسة المشاكل التي أثارها اكتشاف الطاقة الذرية ودعا في الفقرة 5 من منطوق القرار إلى إزالة الأسلحة الذرية وسائر الأسلحة الرئيسية التي تنطبق عليها مواصفات أسلحة الدمار الشامل، من الترسانات الوطنية.

On 1 March 2011, in this same meeting room, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Cuba reminded us that the first resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, on 24 January 1946, called for " the elimination from national armaments of atomic weapons and of all other major weapons adaptable to mass destruction " .
وفي 1آذار/مارس 2011، وفي نفس هذه القاعة، ذكّرنا وزير خارجية كوبا بأن أول قرار اتخذته الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة، في 24كانون الثاني/يناير 1946 دعا إلى " إزالة الأسلحة الذرية وسائر الأسلحة الرئيسية التي يمكن أن تحوَّل إلى أسلحة دمار شامل من الترسانات الوطنية " .

This is reflected by the fact that the very first resolution adopted by the General Assembly spoke, among other things, of " the elimination from national armaments of atomic weapons and of all other major weapons adaptable to mass destruction " (resolution 1(I), para. 5 (c)).

٣٥- ونظراً لمضي أكثر من أربعة عقود على بدء نفاذ معاهدة عدم انتشار الأسلحة النووية، وقرابة سبعة عقود منذ أن دعت الجمعية العامة في أول قرار لها إلى تقديم مقترحات من أجل " إزالة الأسلحة الذرية، وجميع الأسلحة الرئيسية الأخرى التي يمكن تعديلها لأغراض التدمير الشامل، من الترسانات الوطنية " ، فإن استمرار الوضع الراهن غير مقبول.

35.
