In many instances, land dispossession -- whether a result of colonialization processes, changes to land tenure schemes or forced eviction for private development projects or the exploitation of natural resources -- forces indigenous peoples to leave their lands, and thus all means to sustain themselves or gain a livelihood.
وفي حالات عديدة ترغم مصادرة الأراضي الشعوب الأصلية على مغادرة أراضيها - سواء كان ذلك نتيجة لعمليات الاستعمار، أو التغييرات في برامج حيازة الأراضي، أو الإجلاء القسري لتنفيذ مشاريع عمرانية خاصة أو لاستغلال الثروات الطبيعية - وتحرمها بالتالي من كل سبل إعالة نفسها وكسب الرزق.
