At its forty-third session, in 2012, the Commission took note, inter alia, of the work carried out by the Statistics Division and the Inter-agency and Expert Group on Gender Statistics in 2011 on: (a) the review of gender statistics programmes in countries; (b) the minimum set of gender indicators; and (c) the development of manuals and guidelines on gender statistics.

In addition, an Inter-Agency and Expert Group on Gender Statistics, comprising representatives of the gender statistics programmes of international, regional and national institutions, was set up in 2007 to promote collaboration among the key stakeholders and to provide guidance to the programme on future directions.
