39. Fiji agreed with the view, expressed in the report of the Secretary-General on the implementation of the World Programme of Action for Youth to the Year 2000 and Beyond (A/54/59), that the situation and prospects of young people were closely related to the general economic and social conditions in each country and to the State’s economic ability to generate employment.
٣٩ - وذكر أن فيجي توافق على الرأي الذي تم التعبير عنه في تقرير اﻷمين العام بالنسبة لتنفيذ برنامج العمل العالمي للشباب حتى سنة ٢٠٠٠ وما بعدها )A/54/59( وهو أن وضع ومستقبل الشباب يرتبط ارتباطا وطيدا بالظروف الاقتصادية والاجتماعية العامة في كل بلد وبالقدرة الاقتصادية للدولة على توفير فرص العمل.

22. The testimony before the Special Committee concerned such questions as the Israeli settlement policy; confiscation of land; house demolitions; revocation of residence permits in Jerusalem; water supply for domestic and agricultural use; movement of persons and goods; closures; treatment of prisoners and detainees; health conditions in the occupied territories; and the general economic and social situation in the area.

وإذ يشير أيضا إلى قرار الجمعية العامة 32/197 المؤرخ 20 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 1977 الذي بمقتضاه أسند إلى اللجنة ولاية الاضطلاع بدور المركز الرئيسي في منظومة الأمم المتحدة المعني بالتنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية العامة لمنطقة آسيا والمحيط الهادئ، وبدور الوكالة المسؤولة عن تنفيذ المشاريع المشتركة بين القطاعات، ودون الإقليمية، والإقليمية، والمشتركة بين الأقاليم،
