The Government of Liberia wishes to bring to the attention of this Assembly the maltreatment of Liberian and Sierra Leonean refugees in Guinea, which was incited by a speech given by the President of Guinea, General Lansana Conté, on 9 September 2000, and confirmed by Human Rights Watch.
وتود حكومة ليبريا أن تعرض على هذه الجمعية سوء معاملة اللاجئين الليبريين والسيراليونيين في غينيا التي تحرص عليها خطبة ألقاها رئيس غينيا، الجنرال لانسانا كونتي في 9 أيلول/سبتمبر 2000 وأكدتها منظمة مراقبة حقوق الإنسان.

Mr. Zoumanigui (Guinea) (interpretation from French): It is a great pleasure and, indeed, an honour for me, to convey to the General Assembly the fond greetings of the people of Guinea, its Government and its President, General Lansana Conté, at the opening of this session, which so fortuitously coincides with the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of our Organization.
