We should like to refer to the letter that we addressed to you, dated 5 July 2011, in which we proposed that the mandate of Ambassador Gennady Tarasov, the Secretary-General's High-level Coordinator on the issue of missing Kuwaiti and third-country nationals and the repatriation of Kuwaiti property, should be terminated and the matter addressed bilaterally by Iraq and Kuwait.

In my capacity as Chair of the Group of Eastern European States for the month of October 2011 I have the honour to inform you of the decision of the Russian Federation to present the candidature of Mr. Gennady Tarasov for election to the Joint Inspection Unit (JIU) for the period 2013-2017 at the elections to be held during the sixty-sixth session of the General Assembly.

The State of Kuwait welcomes the decision taken by the Security Council in informal consultations held on 22 June 2011 to extend the mandate of the High-level Coordinator, Ambassador Gennady Tarasov, to follow up the issue of missing persons and the issue of Kuwaiti property and the national archive, which has not seen any notable progress.

We appreciated the opportunity to meet the High-Level Coordinator, Mr. Gennady Tarasov, in Baghdad when he visited Iraq from 12 to 15 November 2008 and met senior Iraqi officials, who assured him that Iraq wished to bring his mandate to an end as quickly as feasible.

4. On 2 March 2009, in the presence of the High-level Coordinator on the issue of Kuwaiti missing persons and property, Ambassador Gennady Tarasov, the Ministry handed over the Kuwaiti radio archive consisting of nine boxes containing all of the 4,539 audio and visual cassettes.
4 - قامت هذه الوزارة بتاريخ 2 آذار/مارس 2009 بإعادة الأرشيف الإذاعي الكويتي (9 صناديق تحتوي على جميع الأشرطة التي تتضمن تسجيلات مرئية ومسموعة عدد 539 4 شريطا). وبحضور المنسق رفيع المستوى المعني بالمفقودين والممتلكات الكويتية السفير غينادي تاراسوف.

2. Following the untimely demise of Ambassador Yuli Vorontsov in December 2007, and after conducting consultations with the parties concerned, I appointed Ambassador Gennady Tarasov of the Russian Federation as the High-level Coordinator for the repatriation or return of all Kuwaiti and third-country nationals or their remains and the return of all Kuwaiti property, including archives, seized by Iraq.
2 - وعقب الوفاة المفاجئة للسفير يولي فورونتسوف في كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2007، قمت بعد إجراء مشاورات مع الأطراف المعنية بتعيين السفير جينادي تاراسوف من الاتحاد الروسي منسقا رفيع المستوى معنيا بمسألة إعادة أو عودة جميع الرعايا الكويتيين ورعايا البلدان الثالثة أو رفاتهم إلى أوطانهم وإعادة جميع الممتلكات الكويتية، بما في ذلك المحفوظات، التي استولى عليها العراق.
