On 26 June 2010, in his message on the occasion of the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, the Secretary-General, noting that only two more ratifications were needed for the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance to enter into force, stated that the Convention would reinforce the international legal framework to combat and prevent this heinous practice.
