وإذ تحيط علماً بطلب الجمعية العامة الى اﻷمين العام أن يواصل مناقشاته مع حكومة ميانمار للمساعدة في تنفيذ قرار الجمعية العامة ٩٤/٧٩١ المؤرخ في ٣٢ كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ٤٩٩١ وفي الجهود التي تبذلها الحكومة لتحقيق المصالحة الوطنية،

26. Encourages the Secretary-General, in the discharge of his good offices mandate, to continue his discussions with the Government of Myanmar in order to assist in the implementation of General Assembly resolution 49/197, as well as in its efforts for national reconciliation and towards the resumption of democracy;

55. In his discussions with the Government and other stakeholders, the Independent Expert ascertained the roles of different bodies in the Sudan engaged in the promotion and protection of human rights, with a view to identifying their technical assistance and capacity-building needs.
55- أكد الخبير المستقل، أثناء مناقشاته مع الحكومة والأطراف المؤثرة الأخرى، أهمية تحديد الأدوار التي تؤديها في السودان الهيئات المختلفة العاملة في مجال تعزيز حقوق الإنسان وحمايتها، من أجل تقييم احتياجاتها من المساعدة التقنية وفي مجال بناء القدرات.

46. In his discussions with the Government on this matter, the Special Rapporteur was informed that the authorities had taken many initiatives to protect the religious minorities against discrimination and harm, be they Muslims or followers of other faiths, and that the necessary actions had been taken against " ill-disciplined Buddhist monks " under the existing laws.
46- وعَلِم المقرر الخاص، أثناء مناقشاته مع الحكومة حول هذه المسألة، أن السلطات قد اتخذت مبادرات عديدة لحماية الأقليات الدينية من التمييز والأذى، سواء أكانوا مسلمين أو معتنقين لديانات أخرى، وأن الإجراءات اللازمة اتُخذت ضد " الرهبان البوذيين غير المنضبطين " بموجب القوانين القائمة.

25. In his discussions with the Government and the newly appointed Referendum Convening Commission, the Special Adviser stressed the responsibility of the Government of Myanmar to establish the conditions and create an atmosphere conducive to a free and fair referendum, in accordance with international standards, including the full participation of all political actors and respect for fundamental political freedoms.
25 - وشدد المستشار الخاص في مناقشاته مع الحكومة ومع لجنة تنظيم الاستفتاء، المعينة حديثا، على مسؤولية حكومة ميانمار في تهيئة المناخ والظروف المواتية لإجراء استفتاء حر ونزيه، وفقا للمعايير الدولية، بما في ذلك الاشتراك الكامل لجميع العناصر الفاعلة السياسية واحترام الحريات السياسية الأساسية.
