وإذ يؤكد أهمية سعي المجتمع الدولي جاهداً إلى الاعتراف بحق ضحايا الانتهاكات الصارخة لحقوق الإنسان والانتهاكات الجسيمة للقانـون الإنساني الدولي، وحـق ذويهم والمجتمع ككل في معرفة الحقيقة بشأن تلك الانتهاكات على أكمل وجه ممكن، ولا سيما هوية الجناة وأسباب ووقائع هذه الانتهاكات والظروف التي وقعت فيها،

Stressing also that it is important for States to provide appropriate and effective mechanisms for society as a whole and, in particular, for relatives of the victims, to know the truth regarding gross violations of human rights and serious violations of international humanitarian law,

By virtue of the complementarity principle contained in the statute of the International Criminal Court, States had an interest in ensuring that their legal systems were capable and willing to undertake criminal investigations of gross violations of human rights and serious violations of international humanitarian law if they wished to retain jurisdiction over such cases.

Urges the transitional authorities of Mali to ensure that all perpetrators of serious violations and abuses of human rights and serious violations of international humanitarian law are held accountable and to continue to cooperate with the International Criminal Court, in accordance with Mali's obligations under the Rome Statute;
