7. Mr. van den IJssel, Ambassador, expressed the hope that the meeting would contribute to further understanding on the technical issues related to an FMCT.

Mr. van den IJssel (The Netherlands): Mr. President, let me also start by assuring you of our full support during your presidency and, like the previous speaker, the Ambassador of Germany, I would also like to seize this occasion to say farewell to all those who are going to leave us this summer.

21. Mr. van den IJssel (Netherlands), supporting the position of Canada, said that one might very well value the contribution of NGOs without necessarily sharing their views, and the system of representation in force worked well.
