As indicated in document A/C.5/48/42, the purpose of such inspections is to (a) assess the economy and efficiency with which programmed activities are implemented; (b) examine the relevance of these activities to the objectives of the programme; and (c) review and assess the effectiveness of programme oversight mechanisms in the area of programme preparation as well as monitoring of implementation of the activities of the Programme.
وعلى النحو المبين في الوثيقة A/C.5/48/42، فإن الغـرض مـن عمليات التفتيـش هذه هـو )أ( تقييـم الاقتصـاد والكفـاءة في تنفيـذ اﻷنشطـة البرنامجية؛ )ب( دراسة علاقة هذه اﻷنشطة بأهداف البرنامج؛ )ج( استعراض وتقييم فعالية آليات الاشراف على البرامج في مجال اعداد البرامج، وكذلك رصد تنفيذ أنشطة البرنامج.

41. The successful implementation of the activities of the Programme in 1998 benefited from the support and voluntary contributions of Member States of the United Nations and their institutions, as well as from the assistance and cooperation of regional and other international governmental and non-governmental organizations.
١٤ - تحقق النجاح الذي أحرزه تنفيذ أنشطة البرنامج عام ٨٩٩١ بفضل دعم وتبرعات الدول اﻷعضاء في اﻷمم المتحدة ومؤسساتها وكذلك بفضل المساعدة والتعاون من جانب المنظمات الحكومية وغير الحكومية ، الاقليمية منها والدولية .
