28. The majority of delegations voiced their support for the report of the Secretary-General on the implementation of the measures regarding information and communications and agreed that it would serve as a very useful basis for the Committee’s deliberations.
٨٢ - وأعربت أغلبية الوفود عن تأييدها لتقرير اﻷمين العام بشأن تنفيذ التدابير المتعلقة باﻹعلام والاتصال ووافقت على أن التقرير أساس نافع للغاية لمداولات اللجنة.

The present report is submitted to the Committee on Information in accordance with General Assembly resolution 52/70 B of 10 December 1997, in which the Assembly asked me to report to the Committee on the implementation of the measures regarding information and communications approved by the Assembly.
يقدم هذا التقرير إلى لجنة اﻹعلام وفقا لقــرار الجمعية العامــة ٥٢/٧٠ باء المؤرخ ١٠ كانون اﻷول/ ديسمبر ١٩٩٧، الذي طلبت فيه الجمعية إلى اﻷميــن العام أن يقدم تقريرا إلى اللجنة عن تنفيذ التدابير المتعلقة باﻹعلام والاتصال التي أقرتها الجمعية.

1. In its resolution 52/70 B of 10 December 1997, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to report to the Committee on Information at its twentieth session, and to the Assembly at its fifty-third session, on United Nations public information activities and on the implementation of the measures regarding information and communications approved by the Assembly.
١ - طلبت الجمعية العامة إلى اﻷمين العام، في قرارها ٥٢/٧٠ باء المؤرخ ١٠ كانون اﻷول/ ديسمبر ١٩٩٧، أن يقدم تقريرا إلى لجنة اﻹعلام في دورتها العشرين، وإلى الجمعية العامة في دورتها الثالثة والخمسين، عن أنشطة اﻷمم المتحدة اﻹعلامية، وعن تنفيذ التدابير المتعلقة باﻹعلام والاتصال التي أقرتها الجمعية.

6. Also requests the Secretary-General to report to the Committee on Information at its twentieth session, and to the General Assembly at its fifty-third session, on United Nations public information activities, and on the implementation of the measures regarding information and communications approved by the Assembly;
٦ - تطلب أيضا إلى اﻷمين العام أن يقدم تقريرا إلى لجنة اﻹعلام في دورتها العشرين، وإلى الجمعية العامة في دورتها الثالثة والخمسين، عن أنشطة اﻷمم المتحدة اﻹعلامية، وعن تنفيذ التدابير المتعلقة باﻹعلام والاتصال التي أقرتها الجمعية؛

3. In considering these matters, the Committee on Information should take into account all the information provided in the report of the Secretary-General on implementation of the measures regarding information and communications (A/AC.198/1998/2) and the report of the Secretary-General on questions relating to information (A/53/509).
٣ - وعند النظر في هذه المسائل، ينبغي للجنة اﻹعلام أن تأخــذ فـي الاعتبار جميع المعلومات المقدمة في تقرير اﻷمين العام بشأن تنفيذ التدابير المتعلقة باﻹعلام والاتصالات (A/AC.198/1998/2)، وتقرير اﻷمين العام بشأن المسائل المتصلة باﻹعلام (A/53/509).

4. As he has stated in his report entitled “implementation of the measures regarding information and communications” (A/AC.198/1998/2), the Secretary-General concurs with “the conceptual approach and the thrust of the recommendations” of the Task Force.
٤ - وكما ذكر اﻷمين العام في تقريره المعنون " تنفيذ التدابير المتعلقة باﻹعلام والاتصال " )A/AC.198/1998/2(، فإنه يؤيد " النهج المفاهيمي ]لفرقة العمل[ وزخم توصياتها " .

A/53/509 1. In its resolution 52/70 B of 10 December 1997, the General Assembly requested “the Secretary-General to report to the Committee on Information at its twentieth session and to the General Assembly at its fifty-third session on United Nations public information activities and on the implementation of the measures regarding information and communications approved by the Assembly”.
١ - طلبت الجمعية العامة إلى اﻷمين العام في قرارها ٥٢/٧٠ باء المؤرخ ١٠ كانون اﻷول/ ديسمبر ١٩٩٧ " أن يقدم إلى لجنة اﻹعلام في دورتها العشرين وإلى الجمعية العامة في دورتها الثالثة والخمسين تقريرا عن أنشطة إدارة شؤون اﻹعلام وعن تنفيذ التدابير المتعلقة باﻹعلام والاتصال التي أقرتها الجمعية " .

The necessary conceptual framework for such policies was elaborated in the report of the Secretary-General on the implementation of the measures regarding information and communications (A/AC.198/1998/2) submitted to the Committee on Information for consideration at its twentieth session (4 to 15 May 1998).
