We would therefore welcome an assessment of the international drug problem and the development of a forward-looking strategy for the twenty-first century centred on the basic principle of a balanced approach between supply and demand reduction and, in particular, with full respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States, and non-intervention in internal affairs of States.
