The IAEA is conducting important activities in the fields of prevention, response, training and information exchange in support of efforts against illicit trafficking in nuclear materials and other radioactive sources.

We would highlight here, amongst other things, its efforts in support of the prevention of illicit trafficking in nuclear materials and other radioactive sources.

Let me also recall that, at the Agency's fortieth General Conference, the delegation of Ukraine co-sponsored the resolution on measures against illicit trafficking in nuclear materials and other radioactive sources.
واسمحوا لي أيضا أن أذكﱢر بأن وفد أوكرانيا قد شارك، في الدورة اﻷربعين للمؤتمر العام للوكالة، في تقديم القرار المتعلق بتدابير مكافحة الاتجار غير المشروع بالمواد النووية والمصادر المشعة اﻷخرى.

IAEA reported that it had been carrying out a number of activities in support of Member States’ efforts to prevent and respond to illicit trafficking in nuclear materials and other radioactive sources, including guidance, training, technical support, services, information exchange and the illicit trafficking database programme.
وأفادت الوكالة بأنها اضطلعت بعدد من اﻷنشطة لدعم الجهود التي تقوم بها الدول اﻷعضاء لمنع ومواجهة الاتجار غير المشروع بالمواد النووية والمصادر المشعة اﻷخرى بما في ذلك تزويدها بالمشورة والتدريب والدعم التقني والخدمات وتبادل المعلومات وإشراكها في البرنامج المتعلق بقاعدة بيانات الاتجار غير المشروع.

I refer to the resolution adopted on 25 September 1998 by the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency at its forty-second session, entitled “Measures against illicit trafficking in nuclear materials and other radioactive sources” (see annex).
