Finally, it must be assumed that, in respect of reservations which are clearly compatible with the object and purpose of the Covenant, the Committee accepts that States Parties exercise the rights and functions assigned to them by the Vienna Convention.

The report contained a draft article 9 on " Succession in respect of reservations to multilateral treaties " , its purpose being to determine the position of the successor State in regard to reservations, acceptances and objections.
وقد تضمنت هذه الوثيقة مشروعا للمادة 9 عنوانه " الخلافة في التحفظات على المعاهدات المتعددة الأطراف " . وكان الموضوع يتعلق بتحديد موقف الدولة الخلف من التحفظات وقبولها والاعتراض عليها.

22. Moreover, the suggestion that there might be a reason to consider dispute settlement in respect of reservations appeared unrealistic.
