It is known, for example, that the environmental crisis in the Aral Sea region has significantly increased the susceptibility of the local population to adverse impacts and has given rise to problems in the spheres of the economy, health care and social welfare.
فمن المعروف، مثلا، أن الأزمة البيئية في منطقة بحر آرال قد زادت إلى حد كبير من تعرّض السكان المحليين للتأثيرات الضارة، ونشأت عنها مشاكل في ميادين الاقتصاد والرعاية الصحية والرفاه الاجتماعي.

113. Under the Law of 30 June 1992 on the social protection of victims of the environmental disaster in the Aral Sea region, the following additional social guarantees and compensation are provided to unemployed workers in the disaster area:

A 1.3 billion-dollar-plan to finance projects and measures in the Aral Sea region has been approved for 2013, providing for the creation of small local bodies of water in the Amu Darya delta, construction of water intake facilities with desalination installations, the creation of protective forest plantations and ornithological monitoring of bodies of water in the southern part of the region.
واعتمدت خطة بقيمة 1.3 بليون دولار لتمويل المشاريع والتدابير في منطقة بحر آرال لعام 2013 ترمي إلى استحداث رقع مائية صغيرة محلية في دلتا نهر أموداريا، وتشييد مرافق لتجميع المياه مع منشآت لتحلية المياه، واستحداث مناطق وقائية مكسوة بالغابات، ورصد الطيور في الرقع المائية للجزء الجنوبي من المنطقة.

In addition to the economic difficulties it had faced during the transition period, Kazakhstan and other Central Asian States had been confronted by an ecological disaster in the Aral Sea region and at the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site. United Nations cooperation and technical assistance in dealing with those problems had been greatly appreciated.

266. The ASPERA programme to help mothers and children in the Aral Sea region has been successfully implemented with assistance amounting to over US$ 3.2 million from UNICEF and the Ekosan Foundation.
