17. General Recommendation V was meant to highlight the objectives of the Convention, and particularly the imperative of adopting “immediate and effective measures” in the fields of teaching, education, culture and information.

The Committee recommends that the State party adopt appropriate measures in the fields of teaching, education, culture and information, to recognize the multi-ethnic character of contemporary Korean society and overcome the image of Korea as an ethnically homogeneous country, which no longer corresponds to the actual situation existing in the State party.
وتوصي اللجنة أن تعتمد الدولة الطرف تدابير مناسبة في ميادين التدريس والتعليم والثقافة والإعلام، والتسليم بالطابع المتعدد الأعراق للمجتمع الكوري المعاصر والتغلب على صورة كوريا كبلد متجانس من الناحية العرقية، التي لم تعد تتناسب مع الحالة الفعلية القائمة في الدولة الطرف.

The Committee recommends that the State party increase its efforts, in the fields of teaching, education, culture and information, to combat prejudices, including among public servants, against ethnic minorities such as Roma.
توصي اللجنة الدولة الطرف بأن تبذل المزيد من الجهود في مجالات التعليم والتربية والثقافة والإعلام لمكافحة الإجحاف لدى جهات من قبيل الموظفين العموميين، في حق الأقليات الإثنية مثل الروما.

183. States parties should take affirmative and effective measures in the fields of teaching, education, culture and information, with a view to combating racism and racial discrimination and promoting understanding, tolerance and friendship among nations and racial and ethnic groups.
٣٨١- على الدول اﻷطراف أن تتخذ إجراءات إيجابية وفعالة في ميادين التعليم والتربية والثقافة واﻹعلام، من أجل مكافحة العنصرية والتمييز العنصري، وتعزيز التفاهم والتسامح والصداقة بين اﻷمم والجماعات العرقية واﻹثنية.

2. Invites the attention of States parties to the fact that, in accordance with article 7 of the Convention, the information to which the preceding paragraph refers should include information on the " immediate and effective measures " which they have adopted, " in the fields of teaching, education, culture and information " , with a view to:

With respect to article 7 of the Convention, the Committee notes that limited information has been given concerning the State party’s undertaking to adopt immediate and effective measures, particularly in the fields of teaching, education, culture and information, with a view to combating prejudice which leads to racial discrimination.
٧٩١ - وفيما يتعلق بالمادة ٧ من الاتفاقية، تلاحظ اللجنة عدم كفاية المعلومات المقدمة بشأن ما تقوم به الدولة الطرف في مجال اتخاذ تدابير فورية وفعالة، ولا سيما في ميادين التعليم والتربية والثقافة واﻹعلام، بغية مكافحة النعرات المؤدية إلى التمييز العنصري.

It also urges the State party to eradicate ethnically discriminatory attitudes by taking effective measures in the fields of teaching, education, culture and information, in order to promote understanding, tolerance and mutual respect among all ethnic groups living on its territory.
كما أنها تحث الدولة الطرف على القضاء على المواقف التمييزية على أساس العرق باتخاذ تدابير فعالة في مجالات التدريس والتعليم والثقافة والإعلام لأجل تشجيع التفاهم، والتسامح، والاحترام المتبادل فيما بين جميع الفئات العرقية التي تعيش داخل أقاليمها.

250. The Committee reiterates its previous recommendations to fully implement article 4 of the Convention and to adopt measures according to article 7 in the fields of teaching, education, culture and information.
٢٥٠ - وتعيد اللجنة تأكيد توصياتها السابقة بتنفيذ المادة ٤ من الاتفاقية تنفيذا كاملا وباتخاذ تدابير وفقا للمادة ٧ في مجالات التدريس والتعليم والثقافة واﻹعلام.

42. Immediate and effective measures should be taken in the fields of teaching, education, culture and the media to combat racial prejudice and to promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among nations and among racial, ethnic and religious groups.
٤٢ - ينبغي اتخاذ إجراءات فورية وفعالة في مجالات التدريس والتعليم والثقافة ووسائط اﻹعلام والوسائط اﻷخرى لنشر المعلومات، بغية مكافحة التحيز العنصري وتشجيع التفاهم والتسامح والصداقة فيما بين اﻷمم وفيما بين الجماعات العرقية واﻹثنية والدينية.

One of the outstanding contributions of the study is a rigorous evaluation of the implementation of article 7 of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination which refers to the adoption of immediate and effective measures in the fields of teaching, education and culture to combat racism.
وإحدى المساهمات البارزة التي قدمتها الدراسة هي إجراء تقييم صارم لتنفيذ المادة 7 من الاتفاقية الدولية للقضاء على جميع أشكال التمييز العنصري، وهي المادة التي تشير إلى وجوب اعتماد تدابير فورية وفعالة في ميادين التدريس والتعليم والثقافة من أجل مكافحة العنصرية.

486. The State party’s efforts in supporting the teaching of the languages of minorities and other measures in the fields of teaching, education, culture and information on human rights are welcomed.
٦٨٤ - وتلقى الجهود التي تبذلها الدولة الطرف لدعم تعليم لغات اﻷقليات وغيرها من التدابير التي تتخذها في ميادين التدريس والتثقيف والثقافة وإتاحة المعلومات عن حقوق اﻹنسان الثناء والترحيب.

With respect to article 7 of the Convention, the Committee notes that very little information is available on measures, particularly in the fields of teaching, education, culture and information, with a view to combating prejudices which lead to racial discrimination.
438- وفيما يتعلق بالمادة 7 من الاتفاقية، تلاحظ اللجنة أنه لا يوجد، في ميادين التدريس والتعليم والثقافة والإعلام، إلا كم ضئيل جداً من المعلومات عن التدابير الرامية إلى مكافحة الآراء المسبقة التي تؤدي إلى التمييز العنصري.

In this connection, how effective are the measures, in the fields of teaching, anti-racism education, including programmes addressed to young people, culture, information, media campaigns and sports which have been undertaken to combat racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and all manifestations of related intolerance?
