The Islamic Republic of Iran was actively involved in the negotiations on this Agreement. Following intensive discussions within the OPCW and with the constructive involvement of the United Nations Secretariat, the differences over some aspects of the Agreement were ultimately resolved in a spirit of cooperation and understanding.

It is our hope that our developed partners will show proof of the understanding and flexibility that are needed if progress is to be made in the negotiations on this text so that it can be adopted in the next few days, before the suspension of this General Assembly session.
