In addition to the United Nations peace-keeping operations funded by separate assessments, whose financial statements are presented in the present volume of the accounts, several peace-keeping operations are funded by the United Nations regular budget, and a number of peace-keeping-related activities are funded by various trust funds and by the Support Account for Peace-keeping Operations.

As indicated in paragraph 10 of its report on the revised estimates relating to the 2005 World Summit Outcome (document A/60/7/Add.13 in the present volume), on 28 November 2005 the Advisory Committee became aware of the report of the Secretary-General contained in document A/60/568 and Corr.1 and 2.

5. The Advisory Committee recalls that in its previous report it had indicated that no detailed description of the functions of the requested posts had been provided (para. 35 of document A/60/7/Add.13 in the present volume).

In response to this request, the Secretary-General has submitted provisional terms of reference for a body, which he proposes be called the independent audit advisory committee, for approval by the General Assembly (see para. 10 and annex III to document A/60/568 and Corr.1 and 2; and paras. 26 and 27 of document A/60/7/Add.13 in the present volume).
