5. To request Member States and Arab funding and investment institutions, especially the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, to support the establishment of a national university in the Union of the Comoros;

13. To request the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization to provide all possible assistance to promote Arabic language education in the Union of the Comoros;

6. To proceed forthwith to open an office of the League of Arab States in the Union of the Comoros to support the role played by the League in bringing about a political settlement and supervising the execution of Arab projects there;

These efforts resulted in agreement, on 20 December 2003, on the transitional arrangements in the Union of the Comoros, relating to power-sharing, administration of customs and the budget, security measures and the holding of legislative elections, with support from the international community.
وأسفرت هذه الجهود في 20/12/2003 عن التوصل إلى " اتفق حول الإجراءات الانتقالية في جمهورية القمر المتحدة " يتعلق بتقاسم السلطات وإدارة الجمارك والميزانية والإجراءات الأمنية بالإضافة إلى إجراء الانتخابات التشريعية بدعم من المجتمع الدولي.

:: Legislative elections in the Union of the Comoros, 28 April 2004: The Secretariat-General participated in an electoral monitoring mission to the three islands. Its monitors played a prominent role in monitoring the electoral process, praised by all the delegations from international organizations and leaving a good impression on Comorian public opinion.

To appreciate the joint efforts of the League of Arab States, the African Union, the United Nations and the neighbouring States, particularly in relation to continued implementation of the national reconciliation agreement, and to call upon the Secretariat-General and regional and international organisations and States concerned with the situation in the Union of the Comoros to continue their efforts in this regard;

To express appreciation for the joint efforts of the League of Arab States, the African Union, the United Nations and the Group of Non-Aligned Countries in connection with the continuing implementation of the national reconciliation agreement and to call on the Secretariat-General, international and regional organizations and States concerned with the situation in the Union of the Comoros to pursue their efforts in this regard;

VII. We affirm full support for the Union of the Comoros and our desire for its national unity, territorial integrity and regional sovereignty. We further affirm the Comorian identity of the island of Mayotte and call for the opening of Arab diplomatic missions in the Union of the Comoros, following the example of the Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya.
