4. One conclusion reached on the basis of the first experiment was that the use of high-capacity digital telephone lines (the integrated services digital network, or ISDN) made it technically possible for interpreters at a remote location to service meetings held at a different location, during a continuous period of two weeks, without disruptions to the participants and to their nearly complete satisfaction.
