25. We welcome 2014 as the designated International Year of Small Island Developing States to raise awareness of the " special case " of small island developing States and to mobilize international support for our sustainable development.
25 - ونرحب بتكريس عام 2014 سنة دولية للدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية بغرض زيادة الوعي بكون هذه الدول تمثل " حالة خاصة " وحشد الدعم الدولي لصالح التنمية المستدامة في دولنا.

At the same session, the General Assembly adopted a resolution in which it declared 2014 the International Year of Small Island Developing States and requested the Secretary-General to report to the Assembly at its seventieth session on the implementation of the resolution (resolution 67/206).
وفي الدورة ذاتها، اتخذت الجمعية قرارا أعلنت فيه عام 2014 سنة دولية للدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية وطلبت إلى الأمين العام أن يوافيها في دورتها السبعين بتقرير عن تنفيذ هذا القرار (القرار 67/206).

Recalling that the General Assembly declared 2014 the International Year of Small Island Developing States and that such States have identified waste management among their priorities for action,

III. International Year of Small Island Developing States
ثالثا - السنة الدولية للدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية

67. The year 2014 was declared the International Year of Small Island Developing States by the General Assembly, in its resolution 67/206.
67 - أعلنت الجمعية العامة في قرارها 67/206 سنة 2014 السنة الدولية للدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية.

The theme coincided with the International Year of Small Island Developing States by highlighting the importance of biodiversity protection and sustainable livelihoods for small island developing States.
وتزامن الموضوع مع السنة الدولية للدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية بتسليط الضوء على أهمية حماية التنوع البيولوجي وسبل العيش المستدامة للدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية.

Acknowledging the importance of the International Year of Small Island Developing States and its role in raising awareness and mobilizing international support for our sustainable development,
وإذ نسلم بأهمية السنة الدولية للدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية وبدورها في تعميق الوعي وتعبئة الدعم الدولي لجهودنا من أجل التنمية المستدامة،

To help ensure the success of that Conference, the United Nations should designate 2014 as the International Year of Small Island Developing States.
وللمساعدة على كفالة نجاح ذلك المؤتمر، ينبغي أن تسمّي الأمم المتحدة عام 2014 السنة الدولية للدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية.

It believed that 2014 should be designated as the International Year of Small Island Developing States and urged all Member States to support that initiative.
ويعتقد أن سنة 2014 ينبغي تسميتها السنة الدولية للدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية ويحث جميع الدول الأعضاء على تأييد تلك المبادرة.

Attention was drawn to the importance of the Convention for small island developing States and the fact that 2014 marked the International Year of Small Island Developing States.
ووجِّـه الاهتمام إلى أهمية الاتفاقية للدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية وإلى أن عام 2014 هو السنة الدولية للدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية.

Jamaica supported efforts to designate 2014 as the International Year of Small Island Developing States, and appreciated the offer by the Government of Samoa to host the third International Conference on Small Island Developing States.
وقالت إن جامايكا تدعم الجهود الرامية إلى تسمية عام 2014 السنة الدولية للدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية وتقدّر العرض الذي تقدمت به حكومة ساموا لاستضافة المؤتمر الدولي الثالث المعني بالدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية.

Small island developing States were also expected to engage in discussions on the International Year of Small Island Developing States while also discussing the preparations for the Conference.
ومن المتوقع أيضاً أن تشارك الدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية في المناقشات المتعلقة بـ " السنة الدولية للدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية " ، وكذلك في مناقشة الأعمال التحضيرية للمؤتمر.

Ms. Deiye (Nauru), speaking on behalf of the Alliance of Small Island States, said that the resolution merited the Committee's full support; the designation of 2014 as the International Year of Small Island Developing States would raise awareness of the special situation of those States and mobilize international support for their sustainable development.
14 - السيدة دياي (ناورو): تحدثت باسم تحالف الدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية، فقالت إن القرار يستحق الدعم الكامل للجنة كما إن إعلان عام 2014 سنة دولية للدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية من شأنه أن يزيد الوعي بالحالة الخاصة لتلك الدول ويساعد في تعبئة الدعم الدولي لمساعدتها في تحقيق التنمية المستدامة.
