It has been working, in particular, towards the entry into force of the Pelindaba Treaty on the creation of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in Africa and the creation of such a zone in the Middle East.

Liechtenstein applauded the recent entry into force of the Pelindaba Treaty, which established a nuclear-weapon-free zone in Africa, and the Treaty of Semipalatinsk, which established such a zone in Central Asia, and continued to support the establishment of a zone free of weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East, in accordance with the resolution on the Middle East adopted at the 1995 Review and Extension Conference.
