I invite representatives to stand and observe a minute of silence in tribute to the memory of His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
أدعو الممثلين إلـى الوقوف مع التــزام الصمت لمــــدة دقيقــــة تأبينــا لسمو الشيخ جابر الأحمد الجابر الصباح.

Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad will be remembered for safeguarding the Amirate's stability, independence and prosperity.
وسيُذكر الشيخ جابر الأحمد لضمانه استقرار الإمارة واستقلالها ورخاءها.

One small carpet presented by the former Shah of Iran to His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Prince of Kuwait, described as follows:

12 - سجادة صغيرة الحجم مهداة من شاه إيران السابق إلى الشيخ جابر الأحمد الجابر الصباح أمير الكويت وبالمواصفات الآتية:

As a distinguished leader of his country for almost three decades, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah skilfully and wisely managed the political, economic and social affairs of the State of Kuwait.
إن الشيخ جابر الأحمد الجابر الصباح، بوصفه قائدا مرموقا لبلده طيلة لثلاثة عقود تقريبا، أدار بمهارة وبحكمة الشؤون السياسية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية لدولة الكويت.

On behalf of the General Assembly, I ask the representative of the State of Kuwait to convey our condolences to the Government and the people of Kuwait and to the bereaved family of High Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
وبالنيابة عن الجمعية العامة، أرجو من ممثل دولة الكويت أن ينقل تعازينا إلى حكومة الكويت وشعبها والى الأسرة المكلومة لسمو الشيخ جابر الأحمد الجابر الصباح.

Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was the ruler of Kuwait for more than 28 years, during which time he wisely guided his country towards economic prosperity, social modernization and political openness.
كان الشيخ جابر الأحمد الجابر الصباح حاكما للكويت لأكثر من 28 سنة، قاد خلالها بلده بحكمة نحو الازدهار الاقتصادي والتحديث الاجتماعي والانفتاح السياسي.

That decision was in keeping with the initiative proposed in 1988 by Kuwait's deceased Emir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, in which he had called upon the international community to deal with the debt problem faced by developing States.
ولقـد اتـُّــخـذ هذا القرار تمشيــا مع المبادرة التي اقترحها، في عام 1988، أمير الكويت الراحل الشيخ جابر الأحمد الجابر الصباح، التي طالب فيها المجتمع الدولي بـأن يعالـج مشكلة الدين التي تواجهها الدول النامية.

2. A magnum revolver with rifle stock and sight inscribed " For the Amirs and Kings of the Gulf -- Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah " .

45. The acts of terrorism to which Kuwait had been subjected reached their peak with the criminal assassination attempt against the person of its head of State and the country's Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, in 1985.
45 - وقد وصلت الأعمال الإرهابية التي تعرضت لها الكويت ذروتها بمحاولة الاغتيال الآثمة التي استهدفت شخص رئيس الدولة أمير البلاد الشيخ جابر الأحمد الجابر الصباح عام 1985.

I have the honour to transmit to you herewith the texts of the closing statement and of the Kuwait Declaration that were adopted by the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council at its twenty-fourth session held in the State of Kuwait, on 21-22 December 2003, under the chairmanship of His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jabar Al-Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait (see annex).
يشرفني أن أرفق طيه البيان الختامي وإعلان الكويت اللذين اعتمدتهما الدورة الرابعة والعشرين للمجلس الأعلى لمجلس التعاون لدول الخليج العربية التي عقدت في دولة الكويت يومي 21 و 22 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2003 برئاسة حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ جابر الأحمد الجابر الصباح، أمير دولة الكويت.

In this connection, it would like to mention the initiative of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who issued an Amiral decree granting women their full political rights to vote and stand as candidates for election to parliamentary councils, in the light of which Legislative Decree No. 9/1999 was promulgated on 12 May 1999.
وفي هذا الصدد تود دولة الكويت أن تشير إلى مبادرة صاحب السمو أمير دولة الكويت الشيخ جابر الأحمد الصباح الذي أصدر أمرا أميريا بمنح المرأة كامل حقوقها السياسية فيما يتعلق بالانتخاب والترشيح للمجالس النيابية، صدر في ضوئه المرسوم بالقانون رقم 9/1999 بتاريخ 12 أيار/مايو 1999.

The Ministerial Council expressed its profound sadness over the deaths of Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of Kuwait, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Amir of Dubai.
كما عبّر المجلس الوزاري، عن عميق مشاعر الحزن والأسى، لوفاة فقيد دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، ومجلس التعاون، الشيخ مكتوم بن راشد آل مكتوم، تغمده الله بواسع رحمته وأسكنه فسيح جناته.
