As to the massacres committed in Kasika on Monday, 24 August 1998, at the Lwindi administrative centre, Mwenga territory, the partial information that the Government has received from this region occupied by the Rwandan-Ugandan coalition makes it possible to inform the international community of the following atrocities:
١٣ - وفيما يتعلق بالمذابح المرتكبة في كاسيكا يوم الاثنين ٢٤ آب/أغسطس ١٩٩٨، في محافظة لويندي، في إقليم موينغا، يمكن استنادا الى المعلومات الجزئية التي تتلقاها الحكومة من هذه المنطقة الواقعة تحت احتلال التحالف الرواندي - اﻷوغندي، إبلاغ المجتمع الدولي باﻷعمال الوحشية التالية:

The most serious events were the Kasika and Makobola massacres, among many others, and the suspension of Kinshasa's water and electricity by the rebels, as well as the allies' bombings and the first calls for ethnic cleansing, which was, fortunately, suspended by the Government.
وأخطر الوقائع تمثل في عمليات الإبادة التي شهدتها كاسيكا وماكابولا - من بين مناطق أخرى - فضلاً عن الحرمان من الماء والكهرباء الذي فرضته كنشاسا على المتمردين وعمليات القصف التي تقوم بها الجهات المتحالفة والدعوات الموجهة في البداية إلى التطهير العرقي الذي وضعت الحكومة حداً له لحسن الحظ.

These new massacres are reminiscent of those committed at Kasika in August 1998, when more than a thousand Congolese were also massacred using edged weapons within the compound of a Catholic mission, in response to which the Security Council has still taken no specific action to condemn and halt once and for all this kind of flagrant violation of human rights.
وتُذكﱢر هذه المذابح الجديدة بتلك التي حدثت في كاسيكا في آب/أغسطس ١٩٩٨، حيث قُتل أيضا ما يزيد عن ألف كونغولي بالسلاح اﻷبيض في حرم بعثة تبشيرية كاثوليكية ولم يتخذ مجلس اﻷمن حتى اﻵن أي إجراء ملموس في شأنها ﻹدانة هذا النوع من الانتهاك الصارخ لحقوق الانسان ووضع حد نهائي له.

As they passed through this region, one kilometre away from Kasika, the aggressors fled before the Maï-Maï, returning towards Bukavu via Kasika, Kilungutwe, Kimalandjala and Burhuza, where they left total desolation as a souvenir of their passage.

These incidents - like those in Kasika (1998) and Makobola - were denied by RCD, before finally being acknowledged as unfortunate mistakes.
وقد نفى التجمع الكونغولي من أجل الديمقراطية قيامه بهذه الأفعال، كتلك التي ارتكبت في كاسيكا (1998) وماكوبولا، وذلك قبل أن يعترف هذا التجمع في نهاية المطاف بأن هذه الأفعال كانت أخطاء مؤسفة.
