Lao legislation does not establish in any act or statute that marriage with a non-national can be grounds for the loss of Lao nationality.
وتشريع لاو لا ينص في أي صك أو قانون تشريعي على أن الزواج بغير الرعية يمكن أن يمثل سببا لفقدان جنسية لاو.

According to Article 9 of the Law on Lao nationality, Lao nationality is acquired by: birth; naturalization; re-acquisition; or on the basis of other grounds as provided in Articles 11 to 14 of the present Law.
وطبقاً للمادة 9 من قانون الجنسية، تُكتسب جنسية لاو بالميلاد، أو بالتجنس، أو بالاستعادة، أو بناء على أسباب أخرى كما هو منصوص عليه في المواد من 11 إلى 14 من نفس القانون.

According to the Articles 13 and 14 of the Law on Lao nationality alien citizens may acquire the Lao nationality according to their request if they meet the following conditions:
وطبقا للمادتين 13 و 14 من القانون المتعلق بجنسية لاو، يجوز للمواطن الأجنبي أن يكتسب جنسية لاو بناء على طلبه إذا توافرت فيه الشروط التالية:

The withdrawal of Lao nationality does not alter the nationalities of the person's spouse and children. "
وسحب جنسية لاو لا يغير من جنسية الزوج الآخر وأطفاله. "

Have permanent residence in the Lao PDR continuously for ten years before requesting the Lao nationality.
7 - أن تكون له إقامة دائمة في جمهورية لاو الديمقراطية الشعبية بصورة مستمرة لمدة عشرة أعوام قبل طلب الحصول على جنسية لاو.

The withdrawal of Lao nationality will not entail any alteration to the nationality of the concerned individual's spouse or children. "
ولا يترتب على سحب جنسية لاو أي تعديل في جنسية زوج أو أطفال الفرد المعني " .

According to Article 16 of the Law on Lao nationality, " Lao citizens may relinquish the Lao nationality with the authorization of the National Assembly Standing Committee of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
وطبقا للمادة 16 من القانون المتعلق بجنسية لاو، " يجوز لمواطني لاو التخلي عن جنسية لاو بإذن من اللجنة الدائمة للجمعية الوطنية في جمهورية لاو الديمقراطية الشعبية.

The Lao nationality's relinquishment will not be authorized if the solicitors have not implemented their duties as citizens towards state or social organizations. "
ولا يؤذن بالتخلي عن جنسية لاو إذا لم يكن الملتمس قد أدى واجباته كمواطن تجاه الدولة أو المنظمات الاجتماعية " .

All individuals, both men and women, can re-acquire the Lao nationality by submitting their requests with the authorization of the National Assembly's Standing Committee of the Lao People's Democratic Republic according to the Article 18 of the Law on Lao nationality.
ويمكن لجميع الأفراد، رجالا ونساء على حد سواء، إعادة اكتساب جنسية لاو بتقديم طلباتهم مشفوعة بإذن اللجنة الدائمة للجمعية الوطنية في جمهورية لاو الديمقراطية الشعبية وفقا للمادة 18 من القانون المتعلق بجنسية لاو.

The following shall be a Lao by birth (Articles 9 and 10 of the Law on Lao nationality):

According to Article 1 in the Law on Lao nationality (1991) " A Lao citizen is:

Article 24 provides, " If a parent has relinquished nationality while the other parent still retains it, the children will retain Lao nationality " .
وتنص المادة 24 على ما يلي: " إذا تنازل أحد الأبوين عن الجنسية بينما ظل الآخر محتفظاً بها، فسوف يحتفظ الأطفال بجنسية لاو. "

Article 26 provides, " a child whose nationality is Lao and whose adoptive parents are foreigners or one of them is a foreigner while the other is a Lao national shall retain his/her Lao nationality.
وتنص المادة 26 على ما يلي: " الطفل الذي يحمل جنسية لاو وأبواه بالتبنِّي أجنبيان أو أحدهما أجنبي والآخر من مواطني لاو يحتفظ بجنسية لاو.
