All persons are equal before the law and are entitled to equal protection of the law without discrimination on the grounds of race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, or birth or other status (Provision OM of Thimzhung Chhenpo and Section 3 of Civil and Criminal Procedure Code 2001).
