In light of the new developments in the international security arena, a new resolution from the UN Security Council underlining unqualified security assurances on use or threat of use of nuclear weapons against non-nuclear weapon states parties to the NPT, would enhance regional and international peace and security.
`2` في ضوء التطورات الجديدة على الساحة الأمنية الدولية، من شأن صدور قرار جديد من مجلس الأمن التابع للأمم المتحدة يؤكد على الضمانات الأمنية غير المقيدة ضد استعمال الأسلحة النووية أو التهديد باستعمالها ضد الدول غير الحائزة للأسلحة النووية الأطراف في معاهدة عدم انتشار الأسلحة النووية أن يعزز السلام والأمن الإقليميين والدوليين.

20. In the light of the new developments outlined in paragraphs 20 to 23 of the report of the Secretary-General (A/63/346/Add.5), the Advisory Committee was provided with an updated version of the actions required of the General Assembly, which had been set out in paragraph 63 of the report of the Secretary-General (A/62/828).

In the light of the new developments on the Iraq question, in particular the adoption of resolution 1441 (2002) on 8 November 2002 and resolution 1454 (2002) on 30 December 2002, the Committee for its part will make continuous efforts to address the humanitarian situation in Iraq as well as other sanctions-related issues within the framework of relevant Security Council resolutions.
وفي ضوء التطورات الجديدة بشأن المسألة العراقية، وخاصة اتخاذ القرار 1441 (2002) في 8 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2002 والقرار 1454 (2002) في 30 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2002، ستبذل اللجنة من جانبها جهودا دؤوبة لمعالجة الحالة الإنسانية في العراق، فضلا عن المسائل الأخرى المتصلة بالعقوبات في إطار قرارات مجلس الأمن ذات الصلة.
