45. The Law of 24 July 2001, with respect to Luxembourg nationality

Nationality in Luxembourg is regulated by the Luxembourg nationality Act of 22 February 1968.
وينظم الجنسية اللكسمبرغية القانون المؤرخ ٢٢ شباط/فبراير ١٩٦٨ المتعلق بالجنسية اللكسمبرغية.

Before the passage of the Act, a woman who married a citizen of Luxembourg could obtain Luxembourg nationality without being required to reside in Luxembourg.
وقبل نفاذ هذا القانون، كانت تستطيع المرأة اﻷجنبية التي تتزوج من لكسمبرغي أن تحصل على الجنسية اللكسمبرغية اختياريا دون تبرير إقامتها في لكسمبرغ.

A man who married a citizen of Luxembourg, by contrast, could acquire Luxembourg nationality only through naturalization - a costlier procedure - and after having lived in the country for five years.
أما الزوج اﻷجنبي فلا يستطيع اكتساب الجنسية اللكسمبرغية إلا بالتجنس، وهو إجراء أكثر كلفة، ويتم بعد إقامة لا تقل عن خمس سنوات في البلد.

Today, any foreigner, male or female, who marries a citizen of Luxembourg may elect to acquire Luxembourg nationality provided he or she has lived in the country for three years.

12. In 2001, the Act of 22 February 1968 on Luxembourg nationality was amended to simplify the formalities required to obtain Luxembourg nationality.
12- وعليه، قام المشرّع في عام 2001 بتعديل القانون الصادر في 22 شباط/فبراير 1968 بشأن الجنسية اللكسمبرغية، حيث قلل من عدد إجراءات اكتساب الجنسية اللكسمبرغية.

Residents with Luxembourg nationality constituted less than one third of workers in the Grand Duchy as at 31 March 2011.
وفي 31 آذار/مارس 2011 كان المقيمون من حاملي الجنسية اللكسمبرغية يمثلون أقل من ثُلث اليد العاملة المستخدمة في الدوقية الكبرى.

14. Under a bill tabled by the Government in October 2006, which should be passed when the parliament meets again, foreigners established in Luxembourg will be allowed to acquire Luxembourg nationality without necessarily giving up their nationality of origin.
14- وثمة مشروع قانون قدمته الحكومة في تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 2006، من المزمع اعتماده عند استئناف العمل بعد انقضاء عطلة الصيف الرسمية، سيسمح من الآن فصاعداً للأجانب المقيمين على الأراضي اللكسمبرغية من اكتساب الجنسية اللكسمبرغية دون أن يكونوا ملزمين بالتخلي عن جنسيتهم الأصلية.

12. Until 2009, Luxembourg nationality was acquired either by birth, in application of the theory of jus sanguinis, by choice when a person not from Luxembourg had family ties with the Grand Duchy, or by naturalization, provided that a number of conditions had been met.
12- وحتى عام 2009، كان يُحصل على الجنسية اللكسمبرغية إما عند الميلاد تطبيقاً لنظرية حق الدم وإما بالاختيار إذا كان للشخص غير اللكسمبرغي روابط أصلية بالدوقية الكبرى وإما، أخيراً، بالتجنّس، شريطة استيفاء عدد من الشروط مسبقاً.

13. Since 1 January 2009, the new Luxembourg nationality Act has made it possible for persons wishing to express their attachment to Luxembourg and their willingness to integrate to obtain Luxembourg nationality, while maintaining a link with the homeland and culture of their ancestors through their nationality of origin.
13- ومنذ 1 كانون الثاني/يناير 2009، يتيح قانون جديد بشأن الجنسية اللكسمبرغية لمن يرغبون في إعلان ارتباطهم بلكسمبرغ وعزمهم على الاندماج إمكانية الحصول على الجنسية اللكسمبرغية واحتفاظهم في الوقت نفسه، من خلال جنسيتهم الأصلية، بروابطهم مع وطن أسلافهم وثقافتهم.
