Noting the role mandated to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to assist Member States in countering maritime piracy off the coast of Somalia,

Also noting the role of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in providing to the States concerned technical assistance, upon request, in the areas of capacity-building in the criminal justice sector and the implementation of conventions in countering maritime piracy off the coast of Somalia,
وإذ تلاحظ أيضا دور مكتب الأمم المتحدة المعني بالمخدرات والجريمة في تقديم المساعدة التقنية في مجالي بناء القدرات في قطاع العدالة الجنائية وتنفيذ الاتفاقيات، إلى الدول المعنية، عند الطلب، في مكافحة القرصنة البحرية قبالة سواحل الصومال،

No criminal act of pure maritime piracy off the Lebanese coast has been recorded, with the exception of the above-mentioned Israeli military piracy, nor has the arrest of any Lebanese or other national been registered in connection with crimes of maritime piracy off the Somali coast.
ولم يتم تسجيل أي قرصنة بحرية قبالة السواحل اللبنانية كعمل إجرامي بحت باستثناء ما سبق ذكره عن القرصنة البحرية العسكرية الإسرائيلية، كما لم يسجل توقيف أي شخص لبناني أو أجنبي على علاقة بجرائم القرصنة البحرية قبالة سواحل الصومال.

He expressed hope that a reference to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea would be included in a future resolution as a basis for cooperation in combating maritime piracy and stressed that technical assistance to countries affected by maritime piracy off the coast of Somalia remained a priority.
وأعرب عن أمله في أن تُدرج إشارة إلى اتفاقية الأمم المتحدة لقانون البحار في قرار يُتَّخذ مستقبلا باعتبارها أساسا للتعاون على مكافحة القرصة البحرية وأكَّد أنَّ تقديم المساعدة التقنية للبلدان المتضررة من القرصنة البحرية قبالة ساحل الصومال لا يزال من الأولويات.

The present report is submitted pursuant to Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice resolution 19/6, entitled " Countering maritime piracy off the coast of Somalia " , in which the Commission requested the Executive Director to submit a report to it at its twentieth session on the implementation of that resolution.

Keeping in mind the report of the Executive Director on countering maritime piracy off the coast of Somalia, including in particular the conclusions and recommendations contained in paragraphs 72 to 74 of that report, as well as the more recent information contained in the progress report of the Secretary-General on the work of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in the fight against transnational organized crime and corruption,
