Mr. Matjila appealed to delegates to focus on the victims of racism and racial discrimination and work to protect past, present and future victims, strongly encouraging the delegates to use their diversity to find common ground upon which to assist victims.
وناشد السيد ماتجيلا المندوبين التركيز على ضحايا العنصرية والتمييز العنصري والعمل على حماية ضحايا الماضي والحاضر والمستقبل، وشجعهم بقوة على الاستفادة من تنوعهم للتوصل إلى أرضية مشتركة لمساعدة الضحايا على أساسها.

Mr. Matjila (South Africa) said that his country attached great importance to the universalization of the Convention and its Protocols and their full implementation.

28. Mr. Matjila (South Africa) said that the report by the former Special Rapporteur was indeed very controversial, especially as issues of health did not fall within the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the right to education.

Mr. Matjila (South Africa): Mr. President, since this is the first time that I have participated in the work of the Conference, allow me to express my sincere appreciation for those words of welcome.

24 - السيد ماتجيلا (جنوب أفريقيا): قال إن الدول الأطراف بحاجة إلى القيام بعملية مفاوضات متسارعة حسبما جرى الاتفاق عليه في المؤتمر الاستعراضي لعام 2000 وذلك لإضفاء محتوى حقيقي على ما عليها من التزامات بموجب المادة السادسة من المعاهدة.

25. Mr. Matjila (South Africa) said that his delegation agreed with Ms. Sekaggya that non-State actors also had a responsibility to respect human rights, in addition to that borne by Governments.
25 - السيد ماتجيلا (جنوب أفريقيا): قال إن وفده يتفق مع السيدة سيكاغيا على أن الجهات الفاعلة من غير الدول تتحمل هي الأخرى مسؤولية عن احترام حقوق الإنسان، وذلك بالإضافة إلى المسؤولية التي تتحملها الحكومات في هذا الصدد.

19. Mr. Matjila (South Africa) asked what solution Mr. Ruggie would propose to address corporate human rights abuses in conflict zones, in particular in Africa, and what recourse victims might have.
