13. At its 3rd meeting, on 8 May, the Committee considered the application of Mountain Women Development Organization.

The Centre also helps regional networks of grass-roots Mountain Women advocate for Mountain Women's rights and participate in decision-making processes.

A declaration containing recommendations for improved responses to the needs of Mountain Women and the launch of a new long-term programme for Mountain Women at ICIMOD are two of the expected outcomes of this conference, to be held in Thimphu, Bhutan, from 1 to 4 October 2002.
يشكل إصدار إعلان يتضمن توصيات من أجل تحسين الاستجابة لاحتياجات المرأة الجبلية وإطلاق برنامج جديد طويل الأجل للنساء الجبليات في المركز الدولي للتنمية المتكاملة للجبال اثنتين من النتائج المتوقعة لهذا المؤتمر الذي سيعقد في تيمفو، بوتان، من 1 إلى 4 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 2002.

The difficulties and obstacles to achieving a greater role for Mountain Women, a greater contribution from them and their overall participation are formidable. Girls are not encouraged to pursue education beyond primary school and, because of their multiple responsibilities, often remain illiterate as well as culturally constrained in making their opinions known when men are present.
وهناك مصاعب وعراقيل هائلة تعترض توسيع دور المرأة الجبلية وزيادة مساهمتها، ومشاركتها العامة فلا تشجع الفتيات على مواصلة تعليمهن بعد الدراسة الابتدائية، وبسبب تعدد مسؤولياتهن، كثيرا ما يبقين أميات ويعانين من القيود الثقافية في إعلان آرائهن في حضور الرجال.

" 9. Underlines the need for Mountain Women's improved access to resources as well as the need to strengthen the role of Mountain Women in decision-making processes that affect their communities, cultures and environments;
" 9 - تؤكد ضرورة تحسين فرص المرأة الجبلية في الوصول إلى الموارد وتعزيز دور النساء الجبليات في عمليات اتخاذ القرارات التي تؤثر في مجتمعاتهن المحلية وثقافاتهن وبيئاتهن؛

(h) Supporting the strengthening of Mountain Women's right to resources and their role in their communities and cultures, and giving consideration to the recommendations of the Thimpu Declaration of the Celebrating Mountain Women conference;

(ح) تدعو إلى تحسين إمكانية حصول المرأة الجبلية على الموارد وكذا تعزيز دورهــــا في مجتمعاتها المحلية وثقافاتها، وتحيط علما في هذا السياق بالتوصيات الواردة في إعلان تيمفو الصادر عن مؤتمر تكريم المرأة الجبلية، المعقود في تيمفو خلال الفترة من 1 إلى 4 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 2002؛

g) The organization's Representative presented a paper Organising the Unorganised Mountain Women/Gender Tourism in Garhwal Himalayas in International Seminar on Celebrating Mountain Women: A Global Meeting in the International Year of Mountains, 2002 at Thimpu, Bhutan, 4-11 October 2002.
(ز) عرض ممثل المنظمة ورقة بعنوان " تنظيم صفوف النساء الجبليات غير المنتميات إلى منظمات/السياحة الجنسانية في جبال الهملايا بغارهوال " في حلقة دراسية دولية حول موضوع " تكريم المرأة الجبلية: اجتماع عالمي السنة الدولية للجبال 2002 " عُقدت بثيمبو في بوتان، في الفترة من 4 إلى 11 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 2002.

98. The empowerment, equity and equality of Mountain Women should receive priority attention, together with improved services related to women's specific needs, reproductive health and nutrition; education aimed at closing existing literacy gaps between boys and girls, and between men and women; and ensuring women's access to development and technology transfer programmes.
٩٨ - وينبغي منح اهتمام ذي أولوية لتمكين المرأة الجبلية من أداء دورها وانصافها وتحقيق المساواة لها بالاضافة الى تحسين خدمات تلبية الاحتياجات الخاصة بالمرأة، والصحة التناسلية والتغذية؛ والتعليم الموجه نحو سد الفجوات القائمة بين البنين والبنات والرجال والنساء فيما يتعلق باﻹلمام بالقراءة والكتابة؛ وضمان وصول المرأة الى برامج التنمية ونقل التكنولوجيا.
