50. Mr. Nkou (Cameroon) said that once an international instrument had been signed and ratified, it had precedence over domestic law.

33. Mr. Nkou (Cameroon) said that the National Commission on Human Rights and Freedoms was entirely independent of the Government, although the Government financed its activities.
33 - السيد نكو (الكاميرون): قال إن اللجنة الوطنية المعنية بحقوق الإنسان وحرياته مستقلة تماما عن الحكومة وإن كانت الحكومة تموّل أنشطتها.

37. Mr. Nkou (Cameroon) said that the First Lady of Cameroon had been made a Goodwill Ambassador by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization because of her extensive work with women and children.
37 - السيد نكو (الكاميرون): قال إن السيدة الأولى في الكاميرون قد جعلتها منظمة الأمم المتحدة للتربية والعلم والثقافة سفيرة مودّة بسبب أعمالها الكثيرة المتعلقة بالمرأة والطفل.

41. Mr. Nkou (Cameroon) assured the Committee that it was increasingly common in Cameroon for both spouses to work and that it was very unlikely that any husband would object to his wife's employment.
41 - السيد نكو (الكاميرون): أكد للجنة أنه أصبح، بصورة متزايدة، من الشائع في الكاميرون أن يعمل كلا الزوجين وأن الاحتمال بعيد جدا أن يعترض الزوج على عمل زوجته.

61. Mr. Nkou (Cameroon) thanked the members of the Committee for their questions and their understanding and expressed appreciation for their constructive comments and recommendations.

Mr. Nkou (Cameroon) (spoke in French): I should like to take this opportunity to express my sincere condolences to the friendly peoples of the Russian Federation, Pakistan and China and to say to them that Cameroon fully shares their sorrow.
السيد نكو (الكاميرون) (تكلم بالفرنسية): أود في هذه المناسبة توجيه خالص التعازي للشعوب الصديقة في الاتحاد الروسي، وباكستان والصين، وأن أقول لهم إن الكاميرون تشاطرهم أحزانهم كلياً.

17. Mr. Nkou (Cameroon) said that as Cameroon had 475,000 square kilometres and a population of 18 million, there was no shortage of land and in the few areas that were overpopulated, problems were usually resolved through dialogue.
17 - السيد نكو (الكاميرون): قال إن مساحة الكاميرون 000 475 كيلومتر مربع وعدد سكانها 18 مليونا، وإنه ليس ثمة من نقصٍ في الأرض، وإن المشاكل في المناطق القليلة ذات الاكتظاظ الزائد بالسكان تُحل عادة بالحوار.

58. Mr. Nkou (Cameroon) said that he would like, in conclusion, to thank the members of the Committee for the spirit of collaboration and openness that had prevailed throughout the dialogue.
58- السيد انكو (الكاميرون) قال إنه يود في الختام أن يشكر أعضاء اللجنة على روح التعاون والانفتاح التي سادت أثناء الحوار.

21. Mr. Nkou (Cameroon) said that, with regard to the National Commission on Human Rights and Freedoms, the primary guardians of human rights, before civil society organizations, were the Head of State, the Government and the National Assembly.
21- السيد انكو (الكاميرون) شدد فيما يخص اللجنة الوطنية لحقوق الإنسان والحريات الأساسية، على أن رئيس الدولة والحكومة والجمعية الوطنية هم الضامن الأول لحقوق الإنسان قبل منظمات المجتمع المدني.

53. Mr. Nkou (Cameroon) said that currently there were no journalists in prison in Cameroon, where there was complete freedom of the press.
53- السيد انكو (لكاميرون) أكد مرة أخرى أنه ليس هناك في الوقت الحالي، أي صحفي في السجن في الكاميرون، وأن الصحافة في البلاد تتمتع بحرية مطلقة.
