6. Notes with interest the progress made in the drafting of a treaty on the establishment of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in Africa, and stresses the relevance of such a treaty to the advancement of the objectives of the zone of peace and cooperation of the South Atlantic;

The objectives of the zone include the enhancement of peace and security; the promotion of regional cooperation for social and economic development; the promotion of environmental conservation; and the sustained management of natural resources, and are being actively pursued by every member State.
إن أهداف المنطقة تتضمن تعزيز السلم واﻷمن؛ والنهوض بالتعاون اﻹقليمي للتنمية الاجتماعية والاقتصادية؛ ودعم الحفاظ على البيئة؛ واﻹدارة المستدامة للموارد الطبيعية، وهي أهداف تسعى إلى تحقيقها كل دولة عضو.

It also requested the relevant organizations, organs and bodies of the United Nations system to render appropriate assistance which States of the zone might seek in their joint efforts to implement the objectives of the zone.

Taking into account that one of the objectives of the zone is the peaceful and negotiated solution of existing disputes, we call on all States, both members and non-members of the Zone, to pledge to peacefully, justly and definitively solve all disputes in the South Atlantic, in accordance with the principles and purposes of the Charter of the United Nations and the relevant resolutions of this Organization.

15. Stress that the implementation of the objectives of the zone requires the strengthening of capacities of its member States, including through the exchange of best practices in the areas identified for the revitalization of the Zone;
