8. The Chair said that, since no candidate had received the required majority, in accordance with rule 94 of the rules of procedure of the General Assembly, an additional ballot would be held, the voting being restricted to the candidates obtaining the greatest number of votes in the previous ballot to a number not more than twice the places remaining to be filled.
8 - الرئيس: قال إن اقتراعا إضافيا سيجرى لعدم حصول أي مرشح على الأغلبية المطلوبة، وذلك وفقا للمادة 94 من النظام الداخلي للجمعية العامة؛ وسيقتصر التصويت على المرشحين الحاصلين على أكبر عدد من الأصوات في الاقتراع السابق، على ألا يتجاوز عددهم ضعف عدد المناصب المتبقية المراد شغلها.

If the number of candidates obtaining such majority is less than the number of places to be filled, additional ballots shall be held to fill the remaining places, the voting being restricted to the candidates obtaining the greatest number of votes in the previous ballot, who shall number not more than twice the places remaining to be filled.
3 - فإذا كان عدد المرشحين الحاصلين على هذه الأغلبية أقل من عدد المناصب المُراد شغلها، تجري اقتراعات إضافية لشغل المناصب المتبقية، مع قصر كل اقتراع على المرشحين الحاصلين على أكبر عدد من الأصوات في الاقتراع الذي سبقه، على ألا يزيد عددهم على ضعف المناصب الشاغرة المتبقية.

If three such unrestricted ballots are inconclusive, the next three ballots (subject to exception in a case similar to that of the tie mentioned at the end of the previous paragraph of this rule) shall be restricted to the candidates obtaining the greatest number of votes in the third of the unrestricted ballots.
فإذا أجريت ثلاثة من هذه الاقتراعات غير المقيدة دون أن تسفر عن نتيجة حاسمة، تقتصر الاقتراعات الثلاثة التي تليها (رهناً بالاستثناء في أي حالة مماثلة لحالة تعادل الأصوات المذكورة في نهاية الفقرة السابقة من هذه المادة) على عدد من المرشحين الحاصلين على أكبر عدد من الأصوات في ثالث اقتراع غير قصري.

If the number of candidates obtaining such majority is less than the number of persons or members to be elected, there shall be additional ballots to fill the remaining places, the voting being restricted to the candidates obtaining the greatest number of votes in the previous ballot, to a number not more than twice the places remaining to be filled; provided that, after the third inconclusive ballot, votes may be cast for any eligible candidate.
فإذا كان عدد المرشحين الحاصلين على هذه الأغلبية أقل من عدد الأشخاص أو الأعضاء اللازم انتخابهم، تُجري اقتراعات إضافية لشغل المناصب المتبقية، مع اقتصار كل اقتراع على عدد من المرشحين الذين حصلوا على أكبر عدد من الأصوات في الاقتراع الذي سبقه لا يزيد على ضعف عدد المناصب المتبقية؛ على أنه يجوز، بعد ثالث اقتراع غير حاسم، التصويت لأي مرشح تتوافر فيه شروط الانتخاب.
