Promoting people's organizations, including rural workers' associations and cooperatives, to strengthen the participation of the rural poor in decision-making and evaluation of agrarian reform and rural development programmes at the grass-roots level, with special emphasis on the least advantaged;

The council had before it a note by the Secretary-General transmitting the report on the review and analysis of agrarian reform and rural development prepared by the secretariat of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in collaboration with other concerned organizations and bodies of the United Nations system (E/1996/70).

أحاط المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي علما، في جلسته العامة ٣٣ المعقودة في ١٢ تموز/يوليه ١٩٩٦، بمذكرة اﻷمين العام التي يحيل بها التقرير المتعلق باستعراض وتحليل اﻹصلاح الزراعي والتنمية الريفية الذي أعدته منظمة اﻷمم المتحدة لﻷغذية والزراعة بالتعاون مع المنظمات والهيئات المعنية اﻷخرى في منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة)١٥٠(.

At its second regular session of 1981, the Council took note of the report of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations on land reform and rural development (E/1981/73) and decided to approve the suggestion contained in paragraph 29 thereof concerning the submission to the Council every four years, beginning in 1984, of a report entitled " Review and analysis of agrarian reform and rural development " (decision 1981/185).
