53. The Platform for Action recommends that national machineries should have the power to influence the design and implementation of all government policies and to formulate and review legislation (paras. 204 and 205).

The National Commission on the Status of Women is mandated to monitor and advise on the impact of all government policies, examine laws etc. (Chapter II, paragraph 14 refers).

The Committee recommends that the State party strengthen the Committee on Women and the Family and ensure that it has adequate resources and the ability and opportunity to advise on the development of all government policies on gender equality, draft, review and monitor legislation and its implementation and perform policy analysis as well as analysis of its implementation.

16. 46. The Platform for Action states that in order to be effective, national machineries should be located at the highest possible level of government, should involve non-governmental organizations and should have sufficient human and financial resources and the opportunity to influence development of all government policies (para. 201).
