St. Helena, with its Dependencies (the islands of Ascension and Tristan da Cunha, which latter also includes Gough Island, Nightingale Island and Inaccessible Island), is situated in the South Atlantic Ocean, some 1,200 miles from the coast of Africa and some 1,800 miles from the coast of South America.
