Calls upon Member States to establish appropriate national laws and/or measures to prevent and combat the illicit brokering of Conventional Arms and of materials, equipment and technology that could contribute to the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery, in a manner consistent with international law;

At the 10th meeting, the Working Group heard a presentation by Nazir Kamal, of the Department for Disarmament Affairs, regarding the activities carried out by that Department, including its regional centres, on confidence-building measures in the field of Conventional Arms and indications of possible future tasks that might be entrusted to them in that area.

Two global transparency instruments in conventional armaments, namely the Register of Conventional Arms and the Instrument for Reporting Military Expenditures, have been set up with results still far below original expectations.
