2. For the period from 1 July 1996 to 30 June 1997 the General Assembly approved an amount of $45,079,500 gross ($43,049,600 net), including the portion to be met through voluntary contributions from the Governments of Cyprus and Greece (resolution 50/236 of 7 June 1996).

1. This note is issued for information concerning the implementation of General Assembly resolution 56/502 of 27 June 2002, which provides for the financing of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) for the periods from 1 July 2000 to 30 June 2001 and from 1 July 2002 to 30 June 2003 and takes into account the voluntary contributions from the Governments of Cyprus and Greece to the Force.

3. The amount approved by the General Assembly for the maintenance of UNFICYP for the period from 1 July 1998 to 30 June 1999 was $45,276,160 gross ($43,536,860 net), including the portion to be met through voluntary contributions from the Governments of Cyprus and Greece as well as $2,267,160 appropriated for the support account for peacekeeping operations by the General Assembly in its resolution 52/241 of 26 June 1998.
