5. Observance of existing national and international laws guaranteeing the rights of indigenous peoples in isolation and in initial contact should be strengthened, with particular support for the adoption of the draft United Nations declaration on the rights of indigenous peoples, including the possibility of incorporating specific articles, and the OAS American Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
