An important breakthrough had occurred at the seventh session of the Working Group on the Right to Development, in January 2006, when, using its pragmatic approach of recent years, the Working Group had adopted by consensus a set of criteria for the periodic evaluation of global development partnerships under Goal 8 from the perspective of the right to development.
