The mission provided the High Commissioner with an opportunity to witness first-hand the situation of human rights in South Sudan and to hold discussions with a variety of stakeholders on ways and means to advance the human rights agenda in the country.

(d) To take all measures necessary to develop a robust legal framework for the promotion and protection of human rights in South Sudan and, in particular:

70. The South African Human Rights Commission has, under section 184 (1) of the Constitution, been given the task, inter alia, to monitor and assess the observance of human rights in South Africa.
70- وقد تم تكليف لجنة حقوق الإنسان في جنوب أفريقيا بموجب الفرع 184(1) من الدستور، بمهام من بينها مهمة رصد وتقييم ومراعاة حقوق الإنسان في جنوب أفريقيا.

4. A number of significant factors have had a serious impact on the situation of human rights in South Sudan, notable among them being the continuing political tensions between South Sudan and the Sudan and the internal conflicts and ethnic tensions, as well inter-communal conflicts and violence, both of which severely undermined efforts at nation- and institution-building.
4- أثرت مجموعة من العوامل تأثيراً شديداً على حالة حقوق الإنسان في جنوب السودان، وأهم هذه العوامل هو استمرار التوترات السياسية بين جنوب السودان والسودان والنزاعات الداخلية والتوترات الإثنية إضافة إلى النزاعات بين القبائل والعنف، ويقوض كل عامل منهما الجهود المبذولة على مستوى بناء الأمة والمؤسسات.

7. Requests the High Commissioner to report on the situation of human rights in South Sudan, to work with the Government of South Sudan to provide it with technical assistance, and to identify additional areas of assistance to strengthen the capacity of South Sudan to fulfil its human rights obligations and commitments;
7- يطلب إلى المفوضة السامية تقديم تقرير عن حالة حقوق الإنسان في جنوب السودان، والتعاون مع حكومة جنوب السودان لتزويدها بالمساعدة التقنية، وتحديد مجالات أخرى للمساعدة بغية تعزيز قدرات جنوب السودان على الوفاء بالتزاماته وتعهداته المتعلقة بحقوق الإنسان؛

5. UNICEF noted that the South African Constitution provides for the promotion, protection and fulfilment of human rights in South Africa through the Bill of Rights (Chapter two), which in section 28 focuses on children's particular vulnerabilities.
5- أشارت اليونيسيف إلى أن دستور جنوب أفريقيا ينص على تعزيز حقوق الإنسان في جنوب أفريقيا وحمايتها وإعمالها من خلال شرعة الحقوق (الفصل الثاني) التي تركز في المادة 28 منها على أوجه الضعف الشديدة للأطفال(14).

576. Concerning issues raised in the report on the violation of human rights in South Sudan, including inter-communal violence, the fighting between the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) and the rebel groups, and the abuses perpetrated by the security forces of South Sudan, the delegation made the observations below.
576- أما فيما يتعلق بالمسائل التي أُثيرت في التقرير بشأن انتهاك حقوق الإنسان في جنوب السودان، ومن جملتها العنف بين الطوائف؛ والقتال الدائر بين جيش تحرير شعب السودان والمجموعات المتمردة؛ والانتهاكات التي ترتكبها قوات الأمن التابعة لجنوب السودان، قدّم الوفد الملاحظات أدناه.

The Office also organized country-related panel discussions at the request of the Human Rights Council, including on lessons learned and continuing challenges in combating sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and on the situation of human rights in South Sudan.
25- ونظمت المفوضية أيضاً حلقات نقاش قطرية، بطلب من مجلس حقوق الإنسان، عن أمور تشمل الدروس المستفادة والتحديات المستمرة في مكافحة العنف الجنسي في جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية وعن حالة حقوق الإنسان في جنوب السودان.

(a) Requested the High Commissioner for Human Rights to report on the situation of human rights in South Sudan, to work with the Government of South Sudan to provide it with technical assistance and to identify additional areas of assistance to strengthen the capacity of South Sudan to fulfil its human rights obligations and commitments;

At its forty-ninth session, the Commission on Human Rights decided to renew for a further period of two years the mandate of the Ad Hoc Working Group and requested the Ad Hoc Working Group to continue to examine the situation regarding the violations of human rights in South Africa and to submit an interim report to the Commission at its fiftieth session and a final report at its fifty-first session.
وقررت لجنة حقوق الانسان في دورتها التاسعة واﻷربعين، أن تمدد ولاية الفريق المخصص لمدة سنتين أخريين، وطلبت منه أن يواصل دراسة الحالة فيما يتعلق بانتهاكات حقوق الانسان في جنوب افريقيا، وأن يقدم تقريره المؤقت الى اللجنة في دورتها الخمسين وتقريره الختامي في دورتها الحادية والخمسين.
