Considering the above-mentioned decision and the possible expiry on 26 August 2015 of the fiveyear period for the registration of specific exemptions with respect to lindane, the Secretariat, in collaboration with the World Health Organization, undertook activities to assess the availability of alternatives and the continued need for the use of lindane for the treatment of head lice and scabies.
